Bob and Peggy Rau formed Lite Fibers, LLC in July, 2005 to exclusively manufacture and market coated fiber glass using the Hercuflex® trade name. Hercuflex® is a well-established product line that has been used extensively by global customers for more than 30 years.
Hercuflex® was a trade name and product owned by PPG Industries, Inc. PPG was a leading supplier of fiber glass reinforcements for fiber optics and drop wire cable applications. Fiber glass with specialized coatings is used by cable manufacturers to reinforce copper telecommunication cables for the tensile loads required by aerial installations. Fiber glass with similar coatings is used by manufacturers of fiber optic cable to provide the protection and tensile strength required for both aerial and under-ground applications. Reinforcements for the telecommunication industry have been marketed by PPG under the trade name Hercuflex® since 1987. Hercuflex® was sold to Bob and Peggy Rau in April 2006.
With over 30 years of engineering, production and product development experience with PPG Industries, Inc., Bob holds 12 US patents in product, process and chemistry. He worked for 17 years in PPG’s Fiber Glass Research and Development Group and was responsible for developing new products and manufacturing processes. His final years with PPG included managing the R&D technical support for the Hercuflex® product line.
Peggy Rau has 30 years’ experience in office management, finance, warehousing, and purchasing for county government and both large and small businesses. We are very fortunate that we work great together and we complement each other with what we know and how we approach our business.
